Two years ago, when I was 16, I found modern country swing and instantly fell in love with it. I started traveling around the country, competing, and meeting some of the most genuine, welcoming people I’ve ever known. Every city had a dance community that felt like home.
But every time I came back to Colorado Springs, I realized we didn’t have that. The places to dance often had age restrictions, didn’t always feel safe, or just weren’t the kind of environment I knew was possible.
That’s when I wrote down a simple mission that has guided everything we’ve done since:
“To provide a safe, friendly, and inviting space where everyone can dance, and dance well.”
When we hosted our first dance night last October, I honestly had no idea what would happen. I just hoped a few people would show up and maybe find the same joy that dancing gave me.
Now, less than a year later, this community has grown to more than 600 people. That number isn’t what means the most to me, though. It’s seeing friendships form, watching people gain confidence, seeing couples meet, beginners become incredible dancers, and watching people find a place where they truly belong.
Thank you for trusting this vision. Thank you for believing in it before it became what it is today. Every Monday, every conversation, every laugh, every dance on the floor reminds me why we started.
I love this community more than words can express, and I’m forever grateful for every single one of you.
